  • Imagine you were telling someone about a movie you just watched

  • A summary would include JUST the IMPORTANT parts of the book or movie you are sharing about!

What is a WRITTEN summary?

  • It should be in COMPLETE sentences

  • Include key events from the story

  • The events should go in ORDER

  • Should be 5-7 sentences

  • Retelling the whole story from start to finish

  • The minor details that aren't important

  • Longer than the story

Follow this format when writing a summary!

  • In the beginning... (think exposition)

  • Then... (climax)

Part of a sentence, or an incomplete sentence, is called a sentence fragment. Sentence fragments cannot stand alone!
