What is the main difference between a 1 on 1 and a panel interview ?

• 1 on 1 interviews can be formal or informal, whereas panels can only be formal

In regards to the STAR method, looking at the Situation category, you should:

• Explain exactly what happened in your example. Tell them what job it happened at, who it involved, and details of the story. This sets the stage for the rest of the method.

• Let the interviewer know what time of day the example took place. This way they can determine if you work hard until the end of the day.

• Let them know how the example ended. This is very important so the interviewer knows how you may handle conflict.

Interviewers will only ever ask factual questions. At this stage they aren't interested in getting to know you, rather they want to know how to handle issues.
